The hair charity has given us special broach this year to recognise the 4th hair donation. I want to say a big thank you to all my friends, family and neighbours who have come together to celebrate this benchmark.  When people say well done to me, I have to remind them, it is not me alone, it is everyone else’s support which enables me and the team to do our work. The69028311_10220760561511023_5362009976040587264_n work we do focuses on selfless service to others in need and bringing important issues to the forefront. We try to raise awareness and funds with a difference and support smaller and more unique causes. I always say to people, instead of giving money to big charities, give something else; i.e. some time to elderly people who are lonely and simply need a chat, or donate your blood, hair or bone marrow, give food or shelter to someone who needs it, or simply make someone laugh who is depressed by cheering them up. Life is short, 9CF40602-9228-46F6-B6D0-DDF2B00B3BACradiate positivity, it will come back on you, don’t waste time on lost causes. A special mention has to go to a dear friend who passed away last year who helped me start all of my work; Mr. Kaval Vaseer from the BBC who gave me a voice on his Radio Show in 1994 as his journalist to pass on my messages on and carry out the work we have been doing. It has been memorable to remember old friends who supported us from the start. Since 1994, I have managed to engage mostly all the people I know including friends, family and loved ones and may this support continue to grow!’

The anniversary celebrations will continue with two more projects, Haresh who is also a professionally trained Actor and a stand up comedian, will host a comedy evening for positive mental health. He also intends to complete his cycling and swimming challenge for his triathlon promoting healthy living to people of all ages and walks of life.

The clock of life is ticking……….

After 7 hours of sleeping, our alarm clock wakes us up to go to work,

Like a programmed robot, we travel to our duties on a mission like captain Kirk.

Some 10 hours later we return to our homes and start cooking and conducting daily chores,

A few hours on, we are still abiding by our self created rules and nonsensical laws.

We have 3 or 4 hours remaining to enjoy the rest of the day,

So spend the hours wisely, in the same way as you would your monthly pay.

Do not waste your time feeling miserable, distressed or blue.

Recognise love and happiness, from nice and caring people whom surround you.

Listen to your heart and the advice from people with wisdom in their words,

Take both hands and capture some love, before it fly’s away with the birds.

The clock is ticking, so make the most of every single day,

Just remember, nothing is permanent and no one is here to stay.

Do not focus on money as your most important asset of wealth,

There is no joy in earning or spending if you do not maintain a good health.

Before we know it, the years of life will quickly pass us by,

Memories, regrets and reflections, will no doubt make us all one day cry.

Self reflect and apologise to those you hurt, and learn how to forgive,

Holding anger will only make us bitter and this life will become harder to live.

Each year we grow older, lets be grateful that we are still ageing,

Who knows when suddenly with this world, you and I will stop engaging!

2019 – Ingredients to Happiness Poem by Haresh Sood (Ingredientes para la felicidad 2019)

20180220141020 (1)

As another year passes, and a new one is approaching,

It is time to re-tune our minds, with some insightful life coaching.

Whilst many in 2018 may have brought you disappointment,

It’s a lesson to learn which should be the actual ointment.

If you have hurt someone, why not do some self reflection?

Could things have been different, if you only showed a little affection?

Be considerate towards the opinions of others and have some awareness of yourself,

Do not always ignore home truths and keep putting them on the shelf!

Recognise those who help, assist or provide you with non conditional support,

It is essential to say thank you, otherwise relations become very distort!

Learn to say sorry, it is no use always being so defensive,

Otherwise your behaviour will be deemed as rude and simply offensive.

Plan your year ahead and revisit those forgotten or long held goals,

Review and replace your schedule to identify the time gaps with empty holes.

Stop wasting time on those you dislike or towards you are simply awkward and strange,

Apply the energy on others and accept that some people will just never change.

Spend your money wisely, who cares if people call you tight,

It is no use spending to please others, so invest in what you think is right.

Assess the time spent on social media, frivolous tasks & people with negative ambition,

Delete these useless contacts and surround yourself with people of a positive vision !

Happy 2019.

Legal advice for Indian Marriages in 2018

48542738pic

As the average Indian wedding cost escalates to a staggering fifty thousand pounds,

When divorce proceedings commence, each figure cannot be pleaded within the petition grounds!

Whilst it seemed necessary to decorate each venue with tulips, orchids and Juliet roses,

Your ‘expensive’ cameraman took advantage, taking pictures of your million and one poses.

It may have seemed crucial to feed the guests with a dozen and a half delicious courses,

But the price you paid for the doves, was very similar to the carriages with the beautiful horses.

We may be told that culturally it is expected we host about 10 different celebratory functions,

But, perhaps you could have considered a pre nup agreement, protecting youself from post marital malfunctions.

The grooms mother and sisters may have expected your family to give them each an Indian gold set,

But it didn’t mean you exhaust your credit card and get yourself into a huge amount of debt !

Giving cash in envelopes may have been expected by the grandma with the undertone of a break up threat,

But logically speaking, do you normally gift money to people you have hardly just met?

The entertainment and clothes may have entailed the finest DJ with labels from the city of new Delhi,

But none of these are recoverable, so I am sorry if I have made you feel sick and upset your belly.

The ushers fees and unlimited drinks at the bar were all provided by your families own choice,

So I am sorry to say, you can’t claim for any, including the car you used, the swish and swanky Rolls Royce!

Your legal fees will now be charged at a couple of hundred pounds for the lawyers every hour,

Yes, I agree, it must feel like you are standing under freezing cold water having a terrible shower !

Therefore, before you spend any money on a wedding in 2018, stop, think twice and simply  be wise

Because the price you pay isn’t cheap when the marriage ends in a tragic demise.

Frustrated ‘SEX’pressions of Indian Society….

I found Indian society extremely contradictory when it came to the topics of religion and sex,

Especially when most people are sending illicit material after a morning prayer via a what’s app or a text.

As a relative informed me what is acceptable to ask regarding her daughter’s honeymoon in Goa,

The men in the same  room are discussing something on the internet and keeping their voices lower!

Later, I grasped the culture was rather conservative when it came to joking about love, sex and passion,

In the background my friends 10 year children were watching explicit Bollywood videos displaying some x rated Fashion,

On each corner, I saw religious temples neighbouring onto clinics offering an enhancement to one’s sex life,

I was then told, they are disingenuous, as the so called’doctors’ only want to ‘examine’ someone else’s beautiful wife!

Most men stare at women as though they have never seen the opposite sex and have been completely deprived,

Through their eyes, they display a sexual frustration which they have suppressed  for many years and mentally archived.

Numerous billboards display sexually charged images of a former adult star Sunny Leonne showing her naked flesh,

Then in small cities softcore cinemas are scattered with adverts which look like they were photographed in Bangladesh.

During a conversation, a friend quietly informed me about a service he enjoyed known as ‘body to body’,

He then whispered, ‘there are brothels all over the city, but unlike Europe, they are a little bit shoddy!

Then a relative bragged about booking her husband the unusual birthday gift of a surprise Russian belly dancer,

All I saw on the video were frustrated men recording the moves to use as their late night supplementary enhancer!

On the news, scandalous gurus appear who have abused gullible women who prayed to them for baby boys,

This was followed up by the headline ‘Wife kills her husband after discovering his boyfriend’s bedroom toys’!

On Shivratri most Hindu’s pour milk over the shivling which is meant to promote fertility,

But asking what the shivling signifies is met with the eyes of utter disgust and complete hostility.

Whilst the government appears to be making little effort to promote the idea of using contraception,

Population control will never be resolved as all this suppression is leading to infidelity and deception!

Surprisingly no one seems to talk about sex education, and treats the topic as a complete and utter taboo,

I wonder where the kama sutra and sex temples originated, or if the population just increased simply out of the blue?

Travel on Indian Gravel !!!

As the train pulls into the dilapidated station of the capital city New Delhi,

The air around you hits the nose and suddenly  everything becomes extremely smelly.

The slums on the road side display a distressing and inhumane condition,

I am saddened to discover that since my last visit, things are in an even worse position.

Everywhere I go I am faced with posters of the new prime minister’s achievements called Mr. Modi,

His supporters try to convince me ‘he is a good man just like Al fayed, the father of the late Mr. Dodi’.

My relatives try to reassure me that India has developed and come up in several phenomenal ways,

But all I see are shopping malls and high rise buildings which appear to be the latest craze.

The rich and poor still live parallel lives to one another on opposite sides of the road,

Therefore, you will always find stray animals and beggars outside a rich man’s humble abode.

The dust from the broken roads and level of rubbish scattered on the streets is very distressing,

But no one gives a toss, because they are busy at a temple paying a guru, obtaining his fake blessing.

As my cousin drives her car towards the oncoming traffic which nearly causes our death,

I quickly look for my asthma inhaler whilst I am trying to stay calm and catch my gasping breath.

When you ask someone street directions, they tell you that your destination is ‘just nearby’,

100 kilometres down the road, all you want to do is kill the idiot, but instead park the car to have a good old cry!

The horning by the vehicles is always done no matter what maybe the weather or annual season,

And the road is full of non-uniformed attendants directing the traffic forwards without any valid reason!

The bumps on the road make your body move around like you are doing an unusual bhangra dance,

So I think you should be careful, unless you feel you can come to India and just simply take a chance!

Listen to your heart in 2017…..

2017-Calendar.png

When I started writing, I received some negative messages from a few people that I knew,

They questioned my motives and the time on my hands, which confirmed they had no clue.

Whilst one friend responded and assumed I was doing some self-reflection,

Another tried to query my mindset and draw an unusual psychological connection.

Others told me to stop writing without even reading or knowing about any of my work,

Little did they know, they provided me material and will be the subject of my next poetic quirk.

In 2016 a thought occurred to me when I was cutting the salad using the kitchen knife,

Whilst feedback is important, cutting out negative people is crucial if you want to get ahead in life.

As I disregarded the negative comments and progressed towards what I thoroughly enjoy,

I realised others had parked their ambitions as part of someone else’s tactical ploy.

As a result I launched my blog and took control in order to change my status quo,

Then positive comments poured in and my online audience suddenly began to grow.

From analysing the negative people and conversing with many of my readers,

I came to learn about their lost dreams because they had been liaising with life’s misleaders.

Whilst parents, friends and family will always tell you what to do and give an unwanted opinion,

Just remember you are free to choose your route and not part of anyone’s dominion.

Don’t plan your desires with those who make you wait or fail to respond,

Think of the bigger picture, there are many others you will meet with whom you can correspond.

Make time for hobbies and reduce the time you spend on social media or watching Television,

So carefully look at your diary and perhaps it’s time to make the necessary revision.

Filter through your contacts and get rid of time wasters in relationships and simply hit delete,

Surround yourself with positive people who will make you happy and sweep you off your feet.

Whilst education, family responsibilities and a working life can be the barrier to any kick start,

The art of alternative giving on Christmas Day…….

Here is some further coverage for my article on ‘the art of alternative giving’

http://www2.le.ac.uk/staff/community/people/staffupdates/2016/december/importance-of-giving

Here is a poem for this auspicious day.

I was woken up in the morning by the smell of the delicious food in the kitchen which was slowly cooking,

So, I made a coffee and watched television which displayed celebrities, all of whom were very good looking.

As I glanced out of the window on yet another beautiful Christmas day,

I saw the neighbour’s children looking all joyous, who had gone outside on the street to play.

The adverts promoted sale products with a view of making us all materialistically richer,

Whilst my phone messages poured in and my social media was flooded everyone’s happy picture!

As I changed the television channel to view what is happening on the daily news,

I questioned how Christmas must be for those I saw who are destitute without any food or even a pair of shoes.

As I sat in the warmth and looked at the opened presents which were earlier under the Christmas tree,

It made me wonder if anyone is likely to hear my heartfelt and meaningful plea.

If you have any extra  unopened food in your fridge or cupboards please listen to my appeal,

Why not donate it to a homeless shelter or food bank as it will provide someone in need a decent meal.

Please take a moment to think of the children and families affected by terror and war

They don’t have the fortune of having a leaded roof with a double glazed front door.

By taking out some time to contact or meet someone who is alone or unwell,

Will only take a few minutes, so why not give them a bell?

If you can give anything, please ensure you do not discriminate,

Because once you start, it will make you happy and your mood will elevate.

Once you have mastered the art in which you can alternatively give,

It helps you understand what Mathew and Mark said about benefits in learning to forgive.

Merry Christmas

Shiksha (Sanskrit word for learning)…..Do you recognise your learned behaviour….?

'Gee, I wonder where he picked up this behavior?'

If you look throughout the history of their family tree,

The food was always cooked with the same ingredients including Ghee.

Ever since their Grandmother screamed death to the small cut on her little toe,

Exaggerating illnesses became normal, and even now are routed to their genetic blood flow.

As their parents argued openly and behaved rudely towards family, friends and others,

Their children followed suit ruining personal relationships including those with sisters and brothers.

Their manners, habits and expressions are all so in sync with one another,

There is no individuality and everyone sounds the same as the father and mother.

The way in which the parents express their inappropriate sarcasm,

is reflected through by the tongues of their offspring in a bizarre and inarticulate spasm.

Their caring and sharing makes me think of the word ‘disfigure’,

which is heavily influenced by the family’s most dominant and elderly figure.

I ask, is there anything wrong with recognising negative traits and keeping them at bay?

Because if they don’t, their next generation will act the same and again put them on display.

By filtering through the positive and negative qualities of your family members with a sieve,

will enable you to conduct yourself in a more acceptable manner and teach you how to give.

Do not feel guilty as there is nothing wrong challenging those from whom we learn,

More importantly you should scrutinise their actions and make full use of the word ‘discern.’

Therefore, next time you are told you are just like an un/popular family member,

Ask yourself ‘is this how I come across to others when they of think of me to remember?’.
